Hi guys, ok, very much `in awe` of all you who work out how to run this stuff on their Navman 5xx (I have the 520), just wondered if anyone had tried Memory Map on their Navman units? Its basically an app that can view (track, record) routes on OS maps, I have it on my PDA and its fantastic, just wondered if I could get it working on my 520 so I can have an `all in one` solution for driving/walking/trekking.

Hope someone can help..

Very Happy I was able to get it working using a hex editor. As far as I can tell, only the settings menu doesn't show up, but all the other menu options appear to work. To change the affected settings you'll probably have to edit them manually via the registry.

Maps aren't available for my part of the world so I can't comment on how well it works, but it looks like a very useable application despite the missing settings window. You can even send GPS data from the Navman to the Memory Map running on your desktop Windows PC.

GPS is spot on. Shame about the maps for Ireland =(

It's getting late here so I'll post the "how to install" bit later on.

From One Calc Dlls copy:
Aygshelp.dll (Use Aygshelp2.dll and rename it to Aygshelp.dll)
    MFCCE301.DLL
    Doclist.dll

Within a hex editor such as UltraEdit or HexWorkshop edit the MMPocketNav.exe file.

Replace references to MFCCE300 with MFCCE301
Replace references to AYGSHELL with AYGSHELP

Edit inaccessible settings via the registry at:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Memory-Map-OS-5\MMPocketNav\settings]

OK, installed this now and works brilliant. Considering that there is no route filtering (that is, the unit doesnt make you stick to the roads) it is incredibly accurate when using an OS map. So much so, that when using it when driving on motorways, you can see where you moved across the lanes to overtake etc. Route recording etc work really well also.

cheers!

Ahh sweeeeeeeeeeeet

I was wondering if this program would work on the navman, I have just about the entire UK aerial photography and I'm itching to test it out the next time I go camping in the hills.

I've only just got my navman working again, this will be one of my first projects.

Just installed MM5 and followed the instructions to get it to work.
It functions just brilliantly on my ICN 520.... Nice work!
Just wondering if anyone has found a work-round to allow the settings menu to be accessable from within the program instead of having to edit via the registry?
Very Happy

Got it to work on my 510 by just copying the .dll files from dummy dll pack/dummy dll alternatives/dummy dll_1, and the gx.dll from windows. I have the same problem with settings not working.

Hi,

Been trying to get it to work on my 520,

Have been trying ti install it using the install function in MM itself.

It will copy the maps to the SD card but not the program itself - any ideas.

Also I cannot find MMPocketnav.exe anywhere, where abouts is it located.

I have the full program on CD.

Thanks for the help

Hi,

Sorry to be a pain but can you give me a quick step by step install guide.

What operating system do you have on the icn520? Ive got CE 4.2.

Where to put the files from One Calc .... etc

Also I have MM navigator 5.0.1 but cant find MMPocketNav.exe anywhere.

Any ideas.

Cheers

Richard

Hi, Megarich

What you need to do first is install the Memory Map program onto your home computer (PC).

Then run memory map on your PC.

With the Navman connected via usb with "active sync" go to the running memory map program on your PC, and from the top menu bar select "PDA" and "Install pocket navigator", the memory map program will then connect your Navman and install the pocket pc version onto it.

The next step, is to download the required DLL's (I used one calc dll's pack as mentioned in one of the previous postings) and use active sync to copy the in required dll's to the memory map program directory on your Navman. (don't forget to rename the aygshelp2.dll file before you copy it to the Navman).

You now need to hex edit the MMpocketnav.exe file located on your Navman.
You will need to use a hex editing program to do this (see previous postings for recommendations).

Once you have edited the hex, and saved the edited MMpocketnav.exe back onto the Navman, you should be able to get memory map to work.

To transfer map files to your Navman, I would recommend doing it via a pc card reader onto the SD memory card as it is faster than using active sync.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Yep thats what I was doing.

Memory Map says it installs ok but when I go to the Navman there is no program installed.

Even when I go to the add/remove programs in active sync is says it is there

While installing a message popus up on the Navman but it too quick for me to read.

I thought it might be because the Navman is running CE and MM says the required OS is Pocket PC 2002 or greater.

Any ideas?

Cheers

open System Properties, Memory tab
allocate a little more memory to 'storage' (slide bar to right a couple of notches) then try again.

Hi,

Cheers, already tried that one but just tryed again. Same result.

Getting annoyed now and may have to do a complete overhaul, remove unlock program and start again

still no luck, removed unlock program, hard reset, reinstall unlock, soft reset, try installing MM, no luck, just does what it did before. If I go to activesync gives me option to remove mm so one wold think it was on there but i cant find it

ahhhhhhhh Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
