Hi all.
I just purchased a Navman ICN 510. I have unlocked it using the guides on this forum.
Which version of maps is most up to date and will work well on this GPS?? I am in Australia and will need Australian maps.
Thanks to anyone who helps.

I can't comment on Tomtom's effectiveness for the whole of Australia, but as a tourist driving around Brisbane and Cairns for three weeks last September I can claim that I never got lost with my unlocked Navman. Map coverage only started to lose substance at around Daintree, but thankfully I didn't need to go much further north than that. Unless you live in the middle of the wilderness, you won't have any trouble using Tomtom in Australia.
The map version I used was 675 build 1431.
Nice to see you back on the forum again shonky. |

The Australian maps use up about 98MB, and the Tomtom application files use up around 18MB. So you probably won't be able to fit both applications on one 128MB card. You can use storage cards up to 512MB on the iCN510. They're very cheap these days. You'll pick one up for $10 AUD.
There are several ways to install Tomtom on the Navman. Using WinCE Cab Manager causes the least amount of problems. Here's a link to the instructions on the wiki.

You will want to install Tomtom v6.020 build 7190 (Windows Mobile 2003 version). The Navman has problems running newer versions of Tomtom.
As far as I know the latest Australian map for this version of Tomtom is V675.1431. |

The Tomtom maps for Australia date from April 2007, as far as I know.
Though Navman's website claimed map updates would be available at some point in the future, non ever materialized for the early iCN range. Navman left their existing customers high and dry, built new devices, and looked for new customers. |
