Updated information
If you get an error message such as: "File Not Copied - The file data.chk...",
then alter the storage/program memory ratio from System control panel
[/Windows/control.exe]. Reset the ratio when the installation has finished.
To install V6.010 see Djcool's install instructions first and then make the necessary
changes to the instructions shown below.
Requirements:
tomtom_navigator_6.cab (a.k.a. ttn6ifalleni.cab)
I'll take it for granted that you have already unlocked your Navman.
The best way to install Tomtom v6.0 is to use the standard installation method (i.e. double-clicking the tomtom_navigator_6.cab file on the Navman). Next, move all the newly created Tomtom related files and folders from memory, onto the <storage card>; thus freeing up loads of memory space.
The following diagram shows the directory structure of the storage card when all the Tomtom files have been relocated.
Just replace the [Western_Europe] Maps with your own 6.5 maps.

If you're using a map with a long name such as [Tomtom v6 Map - Great Britain + Major Roads Of Wes] you may have difficulties making Tomtom see it. To get around this problem, rename the folder to something shorter like [Great Britain].
If you're using the cracked guam map version, enter anything for the registration code (manual mode). |

Hi Guys,
I have old ICN510 running WinCE4.2. I saw somewhere (maybe here?) instructions on how to instal tt6 onto navman. But I think these refer to units running WinMobile as firstly the self installer exe file wouldn't run & I just couldn't extract the cab files under WinCE. Anyhow, a friend of mine installed the tt6 software on his PDA & then copied the files over to my sd card. This method seem to work OK (up to a point) when you double click the tt navigator exe it starts with usual first time use configuration options however once it gets to maps it just can't find any. This is just plainly annoying as the maps are included on the disc. One thing I have noticed in both of your instructions you have copied the Guam maps. Are these necessary for tt6 recognising other maps or am I simply missing some files? I've tried naming the subdirectories in few different ways, copying the map files to different directories such as (all to no avail)
\storage card\Norway
\storage card\Norway-Map
\storage card\Norway_Map
What am I missing here? Any suggestions? TIA |

What version of Tomtom 6 are you using? ( It must be 6.000.7370 NOT 6.010.7720 )
Two points to note:
● The 6.50.1046 [Guam] map is used with the cracked Great Britain map (downloaded from the internet). If you have an official registered map you won't need to worry about [guam].
● The installation instructions cover TomTom v6.000(7370). There are map detection problems with the newer TomTom v6.010(7720), on handheld devices that run an OS older than WM2003SE. This includes the Navman range, most of which are running WinCE4.2. |
Hi Admin, Tks for you reply. I read the link you provided above to thread re: map recognition problems. As far as I know it's a ttv6.010 and bearing in mind what you said above it must be a version d/l from the net. There were a number of other maps that came on the disc such as Great Britain, Norway, Australia but I did see all of them working on a friends Ipaq PDA. Admitedly he is running WinMobile (not sure what version) but I just can't comprehend why would this 'recognition' problem affect only units running WinCE? Any chance you email & point me in the right direction as to where I could get ttv6.0? |

tomtom_navigator_6.cab by itself won't install any voices. You'll have to find and copy the new Tomtom v6 voices to:
[Storage Card/Navigator/Voices/]
You should be able to find v6 voices all over the internet. |

Hi i was using TT% and it was running great!
I decided to use TT6. The version of Tomtom 6 I am using is, 6.000.7370.
Now i copied all the files from my PC to the SDcard, via explorer on the nav520 menu if i double click on the cab file it asks where to be installed?
I cannot click on OK as it is off the screen. How do i solve this please?
If i double click TomTom Navigator.exe the program starts up and runs fine! Can i get it to run directly off the Nav 520 menu? like TT5 did.
Or is this the only way to run TT6 via the explorer button?
Also the TT6 does not appear to be 7 digit postcode.
I am using map (GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE) and have shortened it to Great Britain
Thanks. |

The Navman's joystick thingy [the big round up-down-left-right controller) can be pushed inwardly. This action simulates clicking a left mouse button. Next time you want to hit the OK button press the round controller inwards. Alternatively, load up the onscreen keyboard (shkeyboard.exe) and click the enter key.
You can put a shortcut to tomtom6 in the root directory and run it from there. Or put a shortcut in the [\storage card\start] folder and load it from the taskbar.exe start menu. You can't run it from Alexander's menu screen if the main application is installed on the SD card.
For 7 digit postcodes:
Copy the 7 digit [zip] folder from the old TomTom 5 to [\Storage Card\Navigator\] |

Hi all,
My 1st post...
I've been working on getting TomTom v6.01 to work on the Navman 510. It's finally finished and running entirely on the SD card but for some odd reason the favorites, from what I noticed, are not saved when exiting TomTom app. Weird thing is some of the other preferences are saved, however, like the keyboard, compass, toll settings to namae a few are saved. But some prefs are not.
Anyone know what file are the Favorites embedded in or the prefrences setting?
Please don't tell me it the navigator.cfg file. I tried that route already.
Thanks. |

My Tomtom favorites are stored in the file called MapSettings.cfg within the folder of the Tomtom map.

Same procedure as above, plus you have to change the location of [My Documents] in the registry for v6.01 and .02.
See here for more information

Admin,
Are you runnig the TomTom app from device memory or SD card?
Also, most likely your maps are on a SD card. Correct?
Thanks. |
