Finally i got Garmin XT to work on Navman S-50
It works ok and i will post a "how to" later on.
However: I have problem with TT 6. No matter what i try and do i got the memory access violation (MAV) I have done a 1000 things to get it going (1000 diffr. dll`s, edit fonts, maps, poi`s and you name it!!!
The problem is that if i run TT via the taskbar = it runs. But the font`s are NOT correct (to small). But at least i don`t get a MAV error when i try to access the menu. Also, if i flip the screen it works ok, however, the fonts are not correct.
If i lunch TT via the desktop (icon) it starts up well, but when trying to access the menu i goes down with a MAV error
Using GAPI does not work well either. The same problem remains!!
I have treid out all TT6 versions, but no luck! It seems like, that the version that works best for S-50 is the 6,201-7990 build. But....arrrrghh!!!
Any idea`s?? |

But i can`t get TT6 to work well - and thats very frustrating
Garmin..... naa... i don`t think i like it too much. The map is irritating to look at, and - perhaps the worst: Bad route-calc! I took it for a drive this afternoon, and it simply not performing as well as TT, MN7 and mio/Igo! |

I tried out the most of GPS software (TomTom, Navitel, Destinator, iGo, City Guide, Mio Map, Navigon, Garmin XT, and some others on my WM GPS) but the most reasonable and reliable was Destinator 6 (not 7!!!)
Yes GMXT is not the best, but for Russia this is the only GPS software with such detailed map.
Now I use Destinator, but it's map covers only some big sities and essential roads only
The same situation with the others (except Garmin XT with it's excellent map) |

Yes, this making sense! If the maps arent godd it is all for vain!
Destinator is a great navigational tool. Especially i like the routing options (easy to edit etc). Some may say that its a kind of old looking....perhaps...maybe... BUT it PERFORMS |

Hey Troodon, what dlls did you use to get Garmin XT working? I was able to install it but when I try to run it it wont start and gives me no error. From what I discovered it only needs a core.dll is it true? If yes can you point me to which one you used?
Thanks a lot! |

Better post later. Here`s a little how-to for those who can`t wait:
First: Obtain a GarminMobileXTforCE-patch for wince 5,0 on the net.
Get the Garmin program from their homepage (its free!)
Now, unpack the content of the program on a SD card.
Overwrite on your SD card in the directory Garmin/Apps/WM/ using files in the folder "GarminMobileXTforCE-patch"
Then run the QUE appli. on the SD card!
Put in maps and generate a code for them.
Youre done!!
(Better howto later - quite busy right now) |

Troodon, please, stop blaming us!
I know that you don't have a working copy of GarminXT on your NavMan.
So, just stop your blame!

It would be polite to ask for a screenshot instead of being stupid!
Only when i have a 100% working appl. i lunch it. There is - and you would now if you look`t around a bit - a problem with the fix in terms of holding the GPS. Catching the GPS i crashes! |

Troodon, I'm a software engeneer. I know how it works. I know that it's impossible to launch external dll's that are incompatible with this kind of device. Most of necessary dlls are device-dependent.
And I know that it's a greate job to reassemble core.dll that can be used on NavMan with GarminXT.
If you launched your copy - tell us how you did it!
Your screenshots - is not a prooved story...
Upload your working (just somehow) pack. Maybe someone will help you.
But don't tell us to download from somewhere magical patch that does not exist at all! |

If you are a software engineer, dos the word ROM and a screen resolution of 320x240 means anything to you??
