Hello just tried to unlock a ICN550 using the Compil-En-19112006 file's and the tut. but got erroe mesage cant find \Program files\Ficino\NavcarCE.exe or one of it's componants

Please can somone help.

I have managed to get that bar from Compil-En-19112006 to show on my Navman 550. To do it this I simply renamed taskbar2 to NavrcarCE in the \CF DISK\NAVMAN\Socrates directory.

My problem now is that there are no shortcuts available on the taskbar, and I do not know where to put them in order for them to show up.

If anybody can give me any pointers as to this I would be very grateful.

Hard reset sorted out both problem. I only had to put back the shortcuts after the hard reset.

When using the XP style mod (Madchris method) use Copyfile.ini to reinstall reg settings and shortcuts automatically after a hard reset.

Open copyfile.ini in a text editor (notepad is good). Then modify as follows (just use your paths and shortcut names). I had a shotcut folder on sd card where i kept all my shortcuts. lnk are shortcuts in winCE. You can instead just leave shortcut in with program and change path towhere program is. Also leave one blank line at end of file.

Save copyfile.exe and copyfile.ini on SD card (anywhere). Create shortcut to copyfile.exe . Name it copfile.lnk and put it in the startup folder.

That's all. Next time you hard reset all your shortcuts will be put back into the windows program folder and appear in the taskar.

Have tested with prz method as shortcuts stay on sd card.

As you probably have figured the 550 directories are much different to the 530.
The taskbar requires a program called smenu.exe in order to work. The shortcut to run this program has to be renamed to Demarrer.lnk which has to be put into the \storage card\Start directory.
Actual shortcuts for programs must be in the windos\program dir as this is where smenu looks for them.

Other than that its trial and error.

You may be better off using the Prz method and version 3 taskbar which has an ini file that can point to a Start dir anywhere eg. cf card

It says [Cannot find .......lnk ( or one of its components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available.] Im sure i have spelled the filename correct. If i put the shortcuts directly in the windows\program\ they work. Anyone know what is wrong i´m not god at register editing. My Navman maps resides on flash mem. I have a 1gb SD card. Here comes a copy of my copyfile.

Also suggest get rid of all lines starting with a # as you don't need them (clutter only).

Remove blank lines (only blank line should be the last line).
Remaining lines look ok. If the shortcuts in the shortcut folder will launch the prog you should be in business.
'Hard' reset is required to get the copyfile to run.

Here comes my new copyfile its no blank lines now. But i still have problem tomtom, navman and alarmclock wont load if i try to start tomtom it just say [Cannot find tomtom.lnk ( or one of its components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available.] I added "\My Documents" to My Documents;REG_SZ;\Storage Card Same error messages on all three. I have done hard reset. If i manually put the shortcuts to tomtom, navman and alarmclock to "\windows\programs" and softreset they work.

Second problem when i shut down with on/off button and starts after a while (no prog running just taskbar). The same screean i had when i shut down appers and if i press startbutton on taskbar a rotating timeglas comes up. Nothing happens just like its hangs up and no buttons works, so i have to do a softreset. I wondering if i shut down with on/off button should not the naman restart then like a soft reset?
Do i have to add some more regkey to copyfile or could i t be some settings in controllpanel?
I have a picture on the screen but dont now how to post it.
Now i´m getting some grey hair. Confused

Silly question but...
you have placed ALL the listed shortcuts into the directory \Storage Card\Shortcuts ??
This is where copyfile will go to look for them. If they are not in there then nothing will get copied to the Windows folder.

Second line of copyfile.ini is in error.
Should be
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders\My Documents \Storage Card

The problem with the copyfile is sorted out, when i moved around the registry files i got them to work. Now everything loads after hard reset. Very Happy

But i still having problems if i start with on button after i have shutdown the icn with the on/off button the shotcuts wont load. When i connect with activesync i can see that the shortcuts are not active. If i softreset or hardreset everything works again. Does someone else have the same problem or know what the problem is, could it be a bug in taskbar? Or just some setting i have to do?

Taskbar problem is frustrating to be sure!
1. Check following settings: On Navman, open control panel 'system' icon and choose mem tab. Then adjust slider so that some memory is allocated to 'storage' (4416KB set on mine).
2. When you turn off Navman (button on top) the contents of the windows\programs directory should remain! In fact they should stay unless you do a reset. Test this by copying a file into windows\programs. Switch off and on. Check with Active synch that file is still there. (if it is you can delete it. If it is gone you have a problem their).
3. What do you mean by "When i connect with activesync i can see that the shortcuts are not active". Question

4. Is taskbar still appearing after the on/off/on and if so do you have any menu items appearing when you tap start on taskbar?

Anyone else have any ideas on this prolem???

Have adjusted the memory who is allocated to storage to 4416KB. But no differense. Sad

Last time i pressed startbutton after a shutdown it said "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename"

I connected with the Active synch and the file i copyed into windows\programs folder was still there. But all shortcuts looked like white sheets with a windows logotype on, there was no icons as when the shortcuts works. That is what i meant with the shortcuts are not active or worked.
When i had the problem in loading the copyfile and couldent load tomtom, navman and alarmclock they also appeared like white sheets with a windows logotype on, in the program folder. All other working shortcuts hade the same icon.

Now i tryed a second time first softrest and then shutdown wait a few minutes press on then start now it launch a rotating timeglas and nothing more happens. Nothing happens if i press start,taskbar keyboard or clock.
Try to connect with Active synch but no connection have to softreset Crying or Very sad

Have discoverd that if i shut down and start after a few seconds, everything works.

If you want to keep trying then I'm not ready to give up yet Smile

Make sure you have removed prz NavcarCE.exe mod file.
Is your original NavcarCE.exe file still renamed to NavcarC1.exe (if not try renaming it). A look in the AppStartupSec with winhex shows it points to NavcarC1.exe so renaming is worth a try.
If it is already called NavcarC1 then rename it NavcarCE.
You will need to make a new shortcut but if you keep same name (and put shortcut in shortcut folder) you won't need to update copyfile.
See if that makes a difference.
If not, try this:
Start Navman gps (don't close it).
Turn off GPS and take out SD card.
Turn GPS back on. What happens?
Afterwards put back sd card and soft reset.

Strange that no one else have had the same problem, i had the same problem with Prz24 Method!

Have original NavcarCE.exe i renamed it to NavcarC1.exe but no differense its the same problem Sad

Also tryed :
Start Navman gps (don't close it).
Turn off GPS and take out SD card.
Turn GPS back on. What happens?
The navman reloaded the maps when i turned the GPS back on but the buttons didnt work (Parking, petrol, ecs, view and meny)
I put back sd card and made a soft reset.
Tryed to shutdown and waite a while and start no differense:
When i connect with active synch and look in windows\programs all shortcuts looked like white sheets with a windows logotype on exept Navman and control they have icons.

Now i have renamed NavcarC1 back to NavcarCE.
