Hi, thanks for the advice, after playing around with it for a while I have managed to add new shortcuts to the menu and even one for an overclocking app to make the movie player run big files smoothly.
all I need to find now is find an app to use it as a handheld gps for walking with Smile

Thanks, I'll try and find a version, I found something called "mio tool" , not been able to workout what it does yet though.........

Mio Tool will put a icon on the screen, when you tap it the keyboard will load. Its always on top so you can have the taskbar minimised and still have access to the keyboard.

ok, thanks I guess I will see it more usefull when i get mio map installed.
I got a verson but i haven't managed to install it yet, it seems to be for a different operating system, I'll keep working on it Smile

i was wondering if anyone could tell me how you can add icons to the control panel. i have edited the copy ini file to copy nyditot files to the windows folder which works fine. but when you install nyditot from a cab file there is a icon added to the control panel. i was just wondering if anyone could figure it out for me many thanks kevin babb

The icons are usually linked to a 'shortcut'. Install your program normally. Locate the icon and check the icons properties to see where it is stored and what program it points to. Copy the icon to your SD card shortcuts folder. Edit config.ini to copy (after hard reset)this shortcut from the SD card back to the directory on the ICN where you need the icon to appear. Icon should reappear.

I have an iCN550 and I've gone to all of the steps.. It was kinda tricky with the difference of all the directories. But now I've dubbel checked everything and I still get this error:

"Cannot find 'Program Files/Navman/Ficino/NavcarC1' (or one ... etc..)"

Can anyone help?

Your original NavcarCE.exe program should have been renamed to NavcarC1.exe. It is the file that starts your Navman GPS.
Sounds like:
a) your shortcut for starting Navman is pointing to wrong location. Find dir with navcarc1 and create a new shortcut. Rename shortcut (to what ever you want) and move it to the start dir. Delete the old shortcut.

or

b) NavcarC1 is not in the right location.

I give up.. it got to messy, i've put everything back to the start. I'll maybe start over again, with a manual for iCN550.. Thnx anyway for the help!

Have done the (Unlocking ICN 5xx Madchris method XP style menu) on my ICN 530 and it works greate Very Happy

. But i have two problems first is that when everytime i shut down the icn with the on/off button and restart it i have to do a soft reset to get it to work. Second is the voice in tomtom cant get it to work i have tt ver6.020 and maps of ScandinaviaV652.1204.

Something is not quite right with the install. You should be able to switch on and off (button on top) without need to softreset each time.
Check main mod points:
Backed up original appstartupsec.exe (renamed mine navappstartupsec and left it where it was).
Copied the two madchris files Appstartupsec and appstartupsec1 from Compil-En-20061220 to \My Flash Disk\Navman\.
Left original NavcarCE in \My Flash Disk\Navman\Lightning
Made sure no errors in copyfile.ini Wink

Did a hard reset after installing madchris mod - If not try that.
Next:
Could you provide a little more info re your problems.
Did you previously unlock the Navman using another method?
Do your Navman maps reside on SD card? (mine are in flash mem).
Exactly what happens with Navman when you switch it on?
Does the problem happen when you have software (eg Navman) running or just taskbar running with no other programs launched?
If software - any sw or one in particular?
after using taskbar you also need to touch the software on screen to give it priority over the taskbar.

Re TomTom voices:
TomTom voices should be in the main Navigator directory (Voices subdirectory). eg. Storage Card\Program Files\Navigator\Voices
Try deleting the collected.ini file and restarting tomtom.
There is a good thread on installing TomTom 6 on this site. If suggested fix does not work you may do better getting a TomTom voice 'fix' in that forum thread.
