Many PocketPC games will run on the Navman iCN if you install
GapiforHPCs and Nyditot Virtual Display. All you have to do then
is copy files aygshell.dll, and gx.dll (from GAPIforHPC), to the game's
folder. This thread lists games that will work on the iCN using this
technique. Please add to this list.
Here's an example of how this works:
PDAMill Gamebox Classics v2
Fireball: a great Arkanoid clone.
Installation Instructions:
Install Nyditot Virtual Display
Install GapiForHPCs
Download Gamebox Classics v2
Install anywhere on the [Storage Card]
Gamebox Classics v2 will be installed to a folder called [Gamebox Classics] on your storage card.
Copy aygshell.dll to [Gamebox Classics] There are other aygshell.dlls available elsewhere on the net. Try them to see which is best for you.
Copy gx.dll from [Windows] to [Gamebox Classics]
In Nyditot Virtual Display rotate the screen Portrait Right Handed.
Run gbclassics.exe
Have fun. |

Try this procedure with other PDAMill software and let us know how you get on.
Flux Challenge works! |

Virtual Pool Mobile works (run it in portrait mode)
Hexacto Casino too.
And...
Aqua Bubble
Atomic Battle Dragons
Bejeweled v2.52 (Problem when registering. Can't see device ID name. The solution is to install the game on Windows Mobile 2005 Emulator and then export the registry key into the Navman's registry)
Billiard Master 3.1 (Must be installed directly on the Navman)
Bookworm (Import the registry entry from a WinMobile 2003 device)
Bubble Shooter Mobile
Chopper Fight
Fast Future Race
Fifa 2002
Girders 1.20 (use the WM2002 version and run it in portrait mode)
Glyph (Import registry entry from WM2003)
Magic Solitaires Collection
Minature Golf
Mobirate BrainGym (Must be installed directly on the Navman)
Sudoku, Rubix Cube, Einstein, Pentamino
Multiplayer Championship Poker - Texas Hold'em
My Little Tank
OmniGSoft Nine Hole Golf
Pool House
Skyforce Reloaded (PPC width and PPC height in GAPIforHPCs: Don't touch the screen:)
Street Duel Underground Racing
Ultimate Bowling Fighter
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (Needs a soft reset on exiting, or try aygshelp)
Worms World Party Mobile
Zuma
It's not a game, but Ectaco Pocket Universal Translator works. |

Thanks for all the info.
I've found that most astraware games work. You can download demo's from their web site.
The only problem I've found trying all these games is sometimes your machine locks up after an install and you have to do a hard re-set and as Nyditot and Gapi are in the main memory you have to keep re-installing them. Does anybody know a way round this problem? Cheers. |

To prevent lockups occurring, give your Navman plenty of memory storage space (system control panel) when installing software. This can always be lowered when the installation has finished.
The best solution is not to install the software in the first place. No, I'm not trying to be a smart ass.
You can download the Microsoft Device Emulator for free at microsoft.com. This emulates a Windows Mobile 2005 device.
Next, set up a shared folder on your harddisk to act as the emulated storage card for this device. This is done from the Emulator Properties window in the "Shared folder:" option.
When installing a game don't attach the Navman to Activesync. The game's .cab file will be sent to [C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\] or C:\Program Files\] on your harddisk.
Copy the cab file from here to the emulated/shared folder on your harddisk.
Run the Microsoft Device Emulator and from File Explorer click the cab file to install it. Choose Storage Card as the install location.
Once installed on the emulator the game folder can be copied to the Navman's storage card. You'll need to add the GAPIforHPCs gx.dll and agyshell.dll to this folder.
And that's how to install a game without.. erm.. installing it. Another advantage of this method is that you can export selective registry keys from the emulator back into to the Navman. Very useful for those games that won't accept registration on anything but WM2005.
Another alternative is to use WinCE CAB Manager to extract the cab file to your desktop PC. You can then copy the extracted folders to your Navman's storage card. Of course, using the registry keys that are needed for some games is going to be more difficult.
BTW spbAirIslands doesn't work on the Navman. |

As well as adding aygshell.dll to each folder, you'll need to add pegcards.dll to [windows] to play the card games in this pack. I'm a big fan of MS hearts and reversi, but the whole reinstallation process after a hard reset is too much of a pain in the arse with this pack. |

Solitaires Unlimited v1.08
800 solitaire games in one.
Copy aygshelp.dll and htmlview.dll to the game's folder.
using aygshell.dll - no toolbar!!! =(
Next load the solitaires.exe into a hex editor like HexWorkshop.
Search for the text string AYGSHELL and replace it with AYGSHELP and save it.
using aygshelp.dll - note the 4 icon toolbar at the bottom! =)
Try this method with the Zuma, Bookworm and TextTwist games from Astraware. You can fix the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire problem using this technique too. The htmlview.dll won't be needed for these games. |

I'm just starting to explore the great possibilities of my icn530, but one thing i run into is that many games will actually run, but are too small or too large for the navman screen.
What program (if any) do you guys use to resize the game to the actual 320-240 resolution? |

Nyditot Virtual Display can rotate the Navman's 320x240 landscape PNA screen to work in a 240x320 portrait PDA resolution. It can also simulate a 640x480/480x640 resolution display if Zoom is set to 50% and width and height options are set accordingly.
This image shows the options available in Nyditot Virtual Display.
As an alternative to Nyditot you could try copying the alternative gx.dll to the game's folder. Unlike GapiForHPC, this file will not work with all games. |

Thnx JamButty,
I'm trying to use Nyditot Virtual Display to get it to display large screensize games using the zoom option. The screen part is working fine, but the touchscreen is reversed.. don't know what i'm doing wrong, but i'll try to figure it out. |

Orientation seems to work differently on the 530 (compared to 510/520 units). I noticed in gapi setup that screens on 510/20 are 0 degrees when 530 is 270 degrees. Maybe try a different gx.dll |

Simcity 2000 works great on N40i.
- Installed usual on SD Card, Copied AYGSHELL.DLL
Still experimenting which works the best, all of them seem to work.
- Simcity 2000 comes with it's own gx.dll,
Did not see any difference copying the GAPI GX.DLL
Note: Image is not a screen shot of my device, But trust me it works. |
