Installing MioMap v3.2 (Aug 10th build)
The data.zip files may not work for Miomap v3.1 and older versions
Requirements:
● An unlocked Navman
● Install GAPIforHPCs
● aygshell.dll
● tahomabd.ttf
● data.zip (stage 3) Not needed with HPC GAPI 3.08 see here
You can't install Miomap onto the Navman in the conventional manner. You may have to install it on the MS WinMobile emulator first and then transfer the files over to the Navman. Sure, the easy option is to forget about installing and download a cracked version of MioMap, but I'm not encouraging anyone to do that here unless they bought the Miomap software legally.
Whatever method you used to get MioMap, by this stage you should have a folder called [Miomap] somewhere on your Navman's storage card. If those instructions have confused you then take a look at this tiny video showing the file structure of the folder: Video download
Stage 2 (on the Navman)
Copy gx.dll (GAPIforHPC) from [Windows] into the [miomap] folder. Hit 'yes' if asked to replace the existing gx.dll file.
Copy aygshell.dll into the [miomap] folder.
Copy tahomabd.ttf font file to the [windows] folder.
Miomap needs free storage memory to work properly. Moving the slider 1MB to the right of its leftmost position in system properties should be enough.
Stage 3
Replace the data.zip file in the [MioMap] folder with one of these skins. Use the unripped version if you're having problems:
DATA.zip (Original skin for Navman) 3.91MB unripped version
DATA.zip (Original skin for Navman) 2.6MB small streamlined version
DATA.zip (Lacagne skin for Navman) 2.93MB
Ta da! The main application loads.
Updated information [Dec 22 2006]
To use the original data.zip skin that came with Miomap skip stage 3 and see here.

I've updated the data.zip file and it should have fixed the problem.
If it doesn't work, delete the iGO.db file
(Miomap will create a new one).
In the general settings page of Miomap (August build) I've got the Display set as an upright (portrait) even though it's running in landscape. Crazy but it works |

Here are a few things you can try:
If you look in the <root directory> of your device (outside the storage card) you'll see a file called firefly_error.txt
This file has a better description of what caused the crash.
Have you tried deleting your old registry settings for MioMap?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MioMap]
Are you using v3.07+ of GapiforHPCs?
Delete iGO.db and try again.
The install location of my MioMap is: [storage card/apps/miomap/]
my registry settings look like this:
| Code: | REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MioMap]
"StartSuccess"="T"
"AutoRun"=dword:00000000
"AppDir"="\Storage Card\Apps\MioMap\"
"voice_path_hint"="\Storage Card\Apps\MioMap\voice\v_eng_uk_m1.zip"
"voice"="english_m1_uk"
"lang_path_hint"="\Storage Card\Apps\MioMap\lang\english_uk.zip"
"language"="english GB" |

Thanks Howie.
Updating SpeedCams in MioMap
Here are the instructions for adding SpeedCams from PocketGPSWorld.com.
Download this program. Miomap_v3-autovelox_updater-v3.3.rar
(Translated from French)
To update your camera database:
1) You need camera location files in .ASC fomat
2) Copy the .ASC files into the "pdi" folder
3) Launch Miomap_v3_autovelox_updater.exe
4) Select the countries where the cameras in your databases are
5) Add your camera files in the different categories
6) Click on Create database and wait until the end of the update (2-3 minutes)
7) Close the programme down and copy the POIUpdates.upd file to your GPS
in :[miomap\miotc\pois\]
Delete the SPEEDCAM.MTC file which is no longer required
9) Launch Miomap, check that the new cameras are loaded and have a nice trip!
The speed cam warning system is disabled in sim mode. It works in real life though. |

Thanks for the Speed Camera Update Guide, the camera are loaded up on the map and have "Enabled Safety Camera" and "Audible Warning" but when i run a sim it does not make any sound when i approach a camera.
another problem is that when i go to Address and choose "Change City" and then "Other City" it would crash.
Crash.txt shows
| Quote: | At 0x000f6d84: Exception 0xc0000005
Build 'Built @ Aug 10 2006 - 18:38:45' crashed at: 2006.11.16. 18:19:20

could i be missing a file or something? |

I downloaded someone else's data.zip file. The one I used originally was faulty.
I then re-edited the scripts one-by-one and eventually was able to get the other city option working.
Bear in mind that I am using someone's personal MioMap skin (Lacagne) as the base of this fix, so the icons and menus will look different. But at least it works!
MioMap with Lacagne Skin. The new original skin works now also. |
