Hi there I drive for a living working for the NHS and use the trip logger embeded in the device.
So i thought it would be a good idea to record all my milage there in the device.
First time i checked it at home Woooo excellent Did everything i wanted but .....
Went to work plugged it in had all the software installed and was ready to download 2 weeks worth of logs !
device not recognised ..
always uninstalled re installed etc etc etc
....
2 hours later
Call navman !!!! <--- Oh dear
them Yes sir thats right you can only install it on one computer
Me ......
Me ..........
Me WHY ??!?!???!?!
Them Oh so people cant steal it
Me .......
Me ....
Me What !!!!!!
Them yes so if people steal them they cant use it on their computer
Me What if i re-install my computer (which i try to do regulalary but tend to fail at)
Them Well send us proof of purchase and we can then unlock it for you.
Me Thats fucking stupid everytime i want to install it on a different machine or re-install i have to fart around calling you guys !!!
As far as i am concerned if i was to "Steal" a sat nav and sell it for £100 I really wouldnt give a flying f*ck if the person i am selling it to can use it on their computer.
If i bought a stolen satnav i really wouldnt care if i could use it on my computer
IF I HAD A STOLEN SATNAV I COULD LOAD OTHER SOFTWARE ON IT FROM A WEBSITE LIKE THIS AND NOT USE THE TRIP LOGGER !!!!!!!
would anybody know how i could connect to my satnav via USB and use the trip logger on more than 1 machine. Actually 2 to be exact.
Thank you
p.s. sorry about the rant ....
(not really:P) |

If I understand correctly: you have software on your Navman that logs your journey. You also have software on your Windows PC that reads the Navman's log data.
You want to connect the Navman to another Windows PC on which you installed the log reading software.
The problem is that Navman only allows you to register your Navman device to one computer running this software. If you try to read the log data on another computer the Navman's security blocks it. Yes?
If this is the case your problem might be solved using virtualization software like Vmware. If the log reader software works from a virtual environment, and you can register the Navman to the virtual machine; you could then load your virtual workstation on any computer that can run a Vmware Player (i.e Linux/Windows/Mac). Carrying a virtualized operating system from computer to computer isn't very elegant, but I think this would be the only way to work around this problem legally.
I don't know anything about the trip logger software you are using so what I just suggested might be a complete load of nonsense. |

Cheers for your input man not realoly sure that would help me atm though
hmm my fault i was ranting instead of explaining !
When i try and plug ths S80 into any other computer via USB all i get is Device not recognised.
Thats why i came here to try unlocking it but it still wouldnt recognise the device :/
Either usb or activesync, Wont even find the memory card.
p.s. before anybody asks ive installed the drivers Yes,
yes i have tried on multiple machines
as far as i know i need to connect with the navman software to export the log file. Not to sure |
