Does Feiwel have 530 reimaged?

I tried to contact Feiwel via E-Mail - without luck. Sad

Seems only thing left to explore on 530 is loading new firmware - how good would that be!

Like I know right now the winceimg.bin is nothing else than a (harddisk) partition like the partition on your local desktop PC. Maybe you know the filesystems "FAT", "FAT32" or "NTFS" for your desktop PC?

The filesystem for the mobile devices normally are the BINFS of Microsoft.

So the winceimg.bin contains nothing else than an image of a ready configured package of all files inside your ROM of your device.

The "My Flash Disk" folder is a different partition - in a different memory. I don't know why this memory has been killed while I selected "Format Flash" on my device. But in the "My Flash Disk" folder there was SmartST only (and the Unlock hack indeed). The SmartST software can be installed from the shipped CDs completely (but it need much time).

So inside the winceimg.bin there is no SmartST enclosed.

Until now I don't know an tool to create or modify an winceimg.bin file. But I know: Inside this winceimg.bin there has to be the well configured device drivers for the individual hardware.

Maybe there is an additional check implemented not to run on "wrong" hardwares.

Feiwel told me he was able to put a different winceimg.bin on his device - so right now he has a full (unlimited) PDA instead of a limited PNA WinCE.

He warned me not to flash each winceimg.bin I can get - but until now I don't know how to boot via USB or from SD card. So I think all I can try is flashing the winceimg.bin to the device.

After each try I have to re-flash the original Navman iCN 530 winceimg.bin and install SmartST again.

On my new projet that i posted here in this forum "transform a icn530 to a N20" i make a mistake.Flashed ICn530 with N20 firmware and it was dead.
But... investigating a little i found out how to recover ICN530 with original firmware. Very Happy The firmware is located in Smartdesktop for ICN530 install,in the ICN530 Firmwarea folder.I renamed it to WINCEIMG.BIN.Now i needed a file called WINCEIMG.CKS . I created it so: New Text document.
Inside the document .
binSize : 9712800 <---size of winceimg.bin in bytes
checksum: 0x39C87864 <-- hash checksum of winceimg.bin we calculate it , open WINCEIMG.BIN with WINHEX --TOOLS----compute hash--32 bits.
So inside te text file it must be seen so:
binSize : 9712800
checksum: 0x39C87864
Now we save the text file like WINCEIMG.CKS
Copy WINCEIMG.BIN & WINCEIMG.CKS to Memory card then put the memory card on ICN530:
Now we musst put the icn530 on TEST mode:
to do it so:
Press the Fuel Station Icon & The Icon with the Lines while we power on ICN 530 via the HARDRESET BUTTON (the one with the pencil).
WIT Fuel Station ICOn (UP) P ICOn (Down) we navigate to WIN CE by SD/MMC
and prerss the icon with the lines (ENTER) Now we wait (DO NOT POWER OFF ON THIS STEP!!) A message :Now you can reset you device:Finish
